For this nocturnal dance-enterprise, we focus on two debutants spinning our wheels, who constantly make waves out from the arena of Amsterdam’s spirited electronic music circus. On the one hand it’s Sassy J hailing from the Swiss, who recently contributed her profound selection skills to Rush Hour’s compilation series, called Patchwork. By assembling this beautiful trip into sound, the imprint’s long-lasting family member follows the same intuition like she does when DJing: breaking boundaries, finding new paths. Out-of-space-jamming Jazz meets quirky Electronics, House classics meet percussion-mind-games and way beyond – expect the unexpected. The same message which applies to Elias Mazian’s musical spectrum. Never not refreshing, the De School resident showcases a huge load of diverse danceable styles in his mixes and productions. Pumpy basslines, vivid rhythms and a solid portion of soul are the substance of his creations, which can also be tracked via his monthly broadcasting show Private Hearts on Red Light Radio. Our homebase-boy Stenny shows up with his breaky finesse to give the trio’s get-together its final touch.
Für diesen nächtlichen Ausflug, blicken wir gespannt auf zwei Debütanten an Reglern, die aus der Amsterdamer Szene heraus ihre musikalischen Fäden ziehen. Zum einen handelt es sich dabei um die Schweizerin Sassy J, die erst kürzlich wieder mit der Veröffentlichung von Patchwork ihre tiefgreifenden Selection-Skills zu Rush Hour’s Compilation-Serie beisteuerte. Im Rahmen ihrer Zusammenstellung, agiert das langjährige Familienmitglied des Imprints mit der selben Intuition wie bei ihren DJ Sets: gängige Normen werden gebrochen, neue Pfade geschaffen. Kosmische Jazz-Termini verschwimmen mit knarzenden Electronics, House-Klassiker treffen auf diverse Percussion-Spielereien – erwarten darf man alles und das durchweg auf den Punkt. Dem selben Leitfaden entspricht das musikalische Spektrum von Elias Mazian. In den Produktionen und Mixen des De School Residents steht Dynamik im Vordergrund, ob in Form von pumpenden Basslines, lebhaften Rhythmus-Trips oder souligen Jonglierkünsten.
