Saturday night marries epicurean dance delight with elegance & extravaganza. Driving grooves with that important little extra on our BLITZ floor from the likes of Etapp Kyle, Akua, Ed Davenport & Paquita Gordon and blithe funk and left of field discoveries from Call Super, Palms Trax & Lavandonia on our PLUS floor.
Our BLITZ Floor is for friends of the concrete machine-funk. While Etapp Kyle may be well known for uncompromising grooves, it’s his fine and nuanced sound design that makes him stand out from the bulk. Our regular darling Paquita Gordon is a regular at Blitz for all the right reasons, as in consistent and stunning sets and a sheer end- and boundless love of music. Her genre-spanning sets have made her a respected figure of the underground, but this time we’re excited about her playing a Techno-focussed opening set.
Ed Davenport, also known under the moniker Inland for contemplative Techno, plays bright and joyful Techhouse with a refined edge and smart approach, while Akua shines with her liking for the strapping Techno of the turn of the millennium, all while retaining the ancestral drive and timeless spirit of the foundational Detroit-scene.
Enter the PLUS floor and a world of lush sounds. Whether it’s his productions or his mixing, Joseph Seaton has carved out his very own niche within electronic dance music. His écriture is smart but savage. Poetic yet primal. Discerning and delightful. Quite simply, Call Super needs no genres. Palms Trax is another DJ who traverses time and trends but shines with lavish euphoria. Many claim to bridge the classic with the contemporary but Jay Donaldson shows how it’s done. Old-school Chicago house, classic Philly soul, Afro and Italo-disco and many more adjacent genres are the base Palms Trax builds his charismatic sets upon and have, for all the right reasons, propelled him at the forefront of the scene. Lavandonia’s unfussy yet astute approach to Techhouse rounds off our PLUS floor celebrations.
