> Party of Life < is the title of a new exhibition at Museum Brandhorst featuring the highly influential American and NYC artists Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, referring to the lavish birthday parties that Haring used to celebrate.
After a daytime party around the museum itself, with DJs and residents from Blitz Club, we continue to party in our own holy halls with a lineup celebrating the influence of the sensual American dance music heritage – with perspectives from the modern legend Hercules & Love Affair, the local Benjamin Röder, and Flo Real.
We’re delighted to have Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair for one of his rare live appearances in our booth for the end of June! The champion of Outré-Disco with his loose, oddball, and melodic blend of House and Disco has been a major player in the resurgence of (Nu-)Disco in late 00’s New York. His playful eclecticism makes his mixes suitable for unforgettable nights of dancing as well as interactive music history lessons of the recent past – essential music for the head and heels.
Joining the modern legend are two sophisticated selectors: Benjamin Röder, behind Munich’s acquired nightclub Charlie, has been heavily influenced by the sound of New York City as well. The passionate player traverses Disco, House, Soul, and Techno with an irresistible funk and a feel for the gravitation of the dance floor. No one can resist Benni Röder’s lively selections. Last but certainly not least, Flo Real, part of Moodymann’s revered Mahogani Music family, has been elected by the king of Detroit House himself. Blessed by the swing, Flo Real approaches House, Disco, and Funk with a tactile groove, proving her abilities stand in no one’s shadow!

> Party of Life < ist der Titel einer neuen Ausstellung im Museum Brandhorst, welche den einflussreichen amerikanischen und New Yorker Künstlern Andy Warhol und Keith Haring gewidmet ist und auf die opulenten Geburtstagspartys anspielt, die Haring selbst zu feiern pflegte.
Nach einer Tagesparty rund um das Museum selbst, mit DJs und Residents vom Blitz, setzen wir die Party bei uns im Club fort: mit einem Line-up, das den Einfluss des sinnlichen amerikanischen Dance-Music-Erbes feiert. Die New Yorker (Nu-)Disco Ikone Hercules & Love Affair, Benjamin Röder und Flo Real bringen den Dancefloor zum Glühen.
Andy Butler aka Hercules & Love Affair beehrt uns für eines seiner inzwischen raren DJ-Sets. Das Outré-Disco-Aushängeschild prägte das New-Yorker (Nu-)Disco Revival der späten 00er Jahre mit seinem ausgelassenen, melodischen und exzentrischen Stil. Sein verspielter und eklektizistischer Ansatz macht seine Mixes gleichermaßen geeignet für euphorische Partys wie ein Studium der jüngeren Musikgeschichte. Smarte und sinnliche Musik eben, die Hirn und Hüften gleichermaßen stimuliert!
Benjamin Röder und Flo Real, zwei raffinierte DJs, ergänzen das Programm. Freund*innen des Münchner Nachtlebens kennen Benjamin Röder als Kopf hinter der Bar Charlie und als ausgewiesenen Kenner des New Yorker Nachtlebens. Der leidenschaftliche DJ spielt sich mit bestechendem Rhythmusgefühl und Gespür für die Gravitation des Dancefloors durch Disco, House, Soul und Techno. Flo Real dagegen ist Teil der angesehenen Mahogani Music-Familie von Moodymann. Vom King of Detroit höchstpersönlich geadelt, zeigt sie mit ihrem unwiderstehlichen Swing und Groove, dass sie sich nicht hinter hochrangigen Affiliations verstecken muss.
