Capital T-Techno from Alarico, Ellen Allien and our residents Kareem El Morr and the Zenker Brothers.

Tonight’s guests hardly need an introduction. Ellen Allien is widely regarded as the grand dame of Berlin’s techno scene. The Berlin native apparently caught the dance music fever during a stay in London at the time of the Second Summer of Love, and upon returning home – just as the Berlin Wall fell – quickly took up DJing. From residencies at iconic clubs such as Tresor and E-Werk, she went on to found the influential BPitch Control imprint, releasing artists ranging from Modeselektor and Moderat to Ben Klock, as well as underground mainstays like Heiko Laux and Sunil Sharpe. Yet her work has never been about nostalgia: as her label output, the We Are Not Alone events, and her ever-evolving DJ sets continue to prove.

Alarico, meanwhile, is one of recent years’ breakout artists. As one half of Funk Assault alongside Chlär, and with releases on labels such as Katana Records, Mutual Rytm, Primal Instinct and Klockworks, he represents a sharp, contemporary take on techno.

Back to Munich: our residents Kareem El Morr and the Zenker Brothers. The latter celebrate 19 years of their label Ilian Tape this year – a platform Kareem El Morr has also released on – while continuing to balance label work, production, mastering, and international DJ sets. Kareem himself has long been a staple of the local underground, known for his uncompromising, sleek approach to techno, reflected in both his productions and DJ sets, as well as his imprint roots.audio.
