Anyone who has spent some time listening to Jeff Mills, also known as The Wizard, will henceforth recognize his legacy everywhere. He has quite simply written music history and shaped electronic (dance) music and techno unlike anyone else. We could talk about the references and stations that underline the musicians’ importance forever. None of this, however, replaces the enriching examination of the sheer endless creativity of the American, who has mastered the all important balance between dance floor and orchestra, club culture and the art world with incomparable stylistic confidence. There are many themes and attitudes culminating in his work that make techno so fascinating for us: the futurism, the socio-political attitude, the avantgarde… and of course, the rhythm, the sound. Jeff Mills was, is and remains to be the pioneer and mentor of our scene. On turntables, CDJs and his legendary 909 drum machine, he truly lives up to his name and we are very much looking forward to seeing him again.

But we’re also anticipating old and new residents on the BLITZ floor next to The Wizard. The Zenker Brothers have been associated with Blitz for a long time and the work of their own label Ilian Tape is of great importance for the international music scene and of course as well for Munich. They play and curate cutting-edge techno par excellence, characterized by state of the art sound design and UK-oriented break techno sounds. Bashkka has already played her first few gigs at Blitz and we just love how well the versatile DJ knows the sweet spot between house & techno that seduces our and your senses.
Ready for something different? Two excellent house DJs await you on the PLUS floor. First up: Gerd Janson. The Robert Johnson resident & Running Back labelhead with a preference for analogue, organic house & disco grooves is one of our favourite guests simply because you can’t pay homage to the Chicago sound in a smoother and more invigorating way. Up next: Rosa Red, also known as Rosa Kammermeier. The Munich DJ is not only a multi-talented artist on the decks: she is a sought-after designer and has played in a whole series of impressive Munich indie bands. Her talents can be easily heard in her multi-faceted mixes. She can do house, she can do new wave & post-punk, shoegaze and psychedelic but above all: GROOVE.

rappt Eminem über Jeff Mills. Wer sich einmal mit ihm beschäftigt hat, wird sein Vermächtnis fortan überall (wieder-)erkennen. Er hat Musikgeschichte geschrieben, ganz einfach, und elektronische (Tanz-)Musik und Techno geprägt wie kaum ein Zweiter. Wir könnten ewig mit Referenzen und Stationen um uns werfen, die Jeff Mills’ Bedeutung unterstreichen. Nichts davon ersetzt die bereichernde Auseinandersetzung mit der schier endlosen Kreativität des Amerikaners, der mit unvergleichlicher Stilsicherheit den Spagat zwischen Dancefloor und Orchester, Clubkultur und Kunstwelt gemeistert hat. In seinem Schaffen kulminieren so viele Themen und Haltungen, die Techno für uns so faszinierend machen: Der Futurismus, die sozialpolitische Haltung, das Avantgardistische… Und natürlich, der Rhythmus. Der Sound. Jeff Mills war, ist und bleibt Vorreiter und -denker unserer Szene. An Turntables, CDJs und mit der legendären 909-Drummachine wird er seinem Namen im Blitz alle Ehre machen und wir freuen uns sehr auf das Wiedersehen.

Neben der Legende aus Detroit freuen wir uns auf unsere alte und neue Residents auf dem Blitz Floor. Die Zenker Brothers sind uns bereits länger verbunden und die Arbeit ihres eigenen Labels Ilian Tape ist für die internationale Musikszene und natürlich auch München von großer Bedeutung. Sie spielen und kuratieren avancierten Techno par Excellence, von innovativen Sounddesign und UK-orientierten Breaktechnosounds gezeichnet und dabei immer auf Höhe der Zeit. Bashkka, einer unserer neusten Residents, hat ihre ersten Gigs im Blitz bereits hinter sich und wir sind begeistert: Die vielseitige DJ kennt den Sweet-Spot zwischen House & Techno, der unsere und eure Sinne verdreht

Die Münchner DJ ist nicht nur an den Decks eine vielseitig begabte Künstlerin: Sie ist gefragte Designerin und hat in einer ganzen Reihe beeindruckender Münchner Indie-Bands gespielt.
