Welcome to the clash, or better the collaboration, of two true virtuosos! Axel Boman and John Talabot join forces for one of their rare and special Talaboman appearances. Both are well-respected leftfield-house icons in their own right, who – fortunately! — have understood one of the most important points that make such artistic partnerships so exciting: the mutual inspiration. The challenge to try things that the individual alone doesn’t even think of. It is the imagination of the collaboration, of a possible, not necessarily factual, intersection of mindsets and approaches that challenge the two DJs to dare new and unexpected moves. What can we imagine the result to sound like at Blitz? It’s hard to tell, but that’s what we love about the pair! Their sets span wide and expansive stylistic arcs and are marked by the most diverse moods, but are, foremost, colourful and lively, lush and unpredictable. Our feet are itching even as we write this.
We entrust Ana Helder the first and formative – thus essential! – hours of our club night. There’s no room for limiting genre boundaries in her musical world. She coaxes the organic grooves out of even the most sterile and futuristic sounds in her ornate style, but above all shines with her appealing selection of “handmade” rhythms. Munich’s Sam Goku is the icing on the cake. He skilfully plays his way through myriads of subgenres and microcosm in the realm of (leftfield) house, disco and techno, developing sets that are equally characterized by buoyant ease and yet great depth in the rhythmic, melodic and sonic details.

Mit Axel Roman und John Talabot – gemeinsam Talaboman – laden wir zum Gipfeltreffen zweier Leftfield House-Virtuosen. Beides sind aus gutem Grund gefeierte Größen der Szene, die – zum Glück! – einen der wichtigsten Punkte verstanden haben, was eine Kollaboration so spannend machen kann: die gegenseitige Inspiration. Die Herausforderung Dinge zu probieren, an welche der oder die einzelne gar nicht erst denkt. Es ist die Projektion der Kollaboration, einer möglichen – nicht unbedingt faktischen! – künstlerischen Schnittmenge, welche die beiden DJs herausfordert, neue und unerwartete Schritte zur wagen. Wie mag dieses Ergebnis im Blitz klingen? Schwer zu sagen, aber das schätzen wir so an den beiden! Ihre Sets spannen weite und ausladende stilistische Spannungsbögen und sind von den unterschiedlichsten Stimmungen gezeichnet, aber zumeist bunt und lebendig, üppig wie unerwartet. Es juckt uns schon beim Schreiben in den Füßen.
Ana Helder vertrauen wir die ersten und entscheidenden Stunden unserer Clubnacht an. In ihrem Denken gibt es keinen Raum für beschränkende Genre-Grenzen. Mit ihrer sympathisch-schnörkeligen Spielweise entlockt sie auch den sterilsten und futuristischen Sounds den organischen Groove, glänzt aber vor allem mit ihrer gelungenen Auswahl „handgemachter“ Rhythmen. Der Münchner Sam Goku setzt dem Abend schließlich die Krone auf. Er spielt sich gekonnt durch durch die unterschiedlichsten Spielarten & Grooves von (Leftfield-)House, Disco als auch Techno und entwickelt dabei Sets, die gleichermaßen von unbeschwerter Leichtigkeit und doch großer Tiefe in den rhythmischen, melodischen und klanglichen Details gezeichnet sind.
