Ali Shirazinia’s, aka Dubfire’s artistic journey. Jumping from the commercial success of the highly popular production duo Deep Dish, his forays into underground house & techno were first met with scepticism. He was seen as an artist desperate to build an underground reputation but Ali’s stamina and dedication has proven his critics wrong: he’s in it for the music, he’s in it with heart and soul. Constantly evolving his musical perspective as an artist and as the head of his own SCI + TEC imprint, he has consequently been taking his iconic brand of Minimal further in recent years. He’s developed an exciting and unique take on rolling grooves, whether they’re full-bodied or blithe in nature, all characterized by the subtle dubbed-out textures Ali’s well known for. His production and mixes have defied expectations and the same goes for our second guest of the night, DJ Boring.
The former LoFi-House icon also resists the urge to go for the tried, tested and expected and has morphed into a bone-fide, well-rounded House- orientated DJ and producer with a knack for clean cut, laid-back grooves. > Winona <, probably Lo-Fi House’s biggest hit, has aged well, and Tristan Hallis too. His latest release > Beautiful Strangers < on maestro Gerd Janson’s Running Back imprint shows he’s capable of fusing the unhurried, nostalgic-driven style he helped popularise with high-definition, fluorescent melodies and sounds. His last appearance at Blitz showcased his fondness for beamy, techno-orientated grooves. DJ Boring proves his music, mixes and productions are the polar opposite of his provocative pseudonym, so make sure you bring some energy! Ludwig Rausch from Munich adds the final touches with his blend of (Deep-)Techhouse.
