Not catering to a specific and current genre hype, but to take the music back to its essence and message can be a risky feat among an ever and very fast changing scene. But that’s what makes (dance) music so interesting: we believe that a lot of the very best music comes from artists that dare to swim against the current, that stand to the music they love and the music’s very own message and history, no matter how en vogue the specific sound might be right now.
Such as: Dee Diggs Unimpressed by Progressive House’s current high, she’s an eager preacher of Disco & House’s black history. Based in New York, the former student from Boston had her House-epiphany while studying in France and became aware of its roots. Now she reminds listeners about dance music’s queer and black history, with selections that traverses House music’s past and present and is just as sensual, storming, funky as it is thumping, nostalgic and hopeful for the future. Dee Diggs teaches music history with passion, groove and dedication. Only a fool would skip this vital and joyous, cultured lesson.
Our resident Bashkka enjoyed her epiphany in New York. The queer and diverse Ballroom scene shaped her outlook and music and life. Today she spins potent grooves and basslines ranging from Electro, House and Techno and equally controls warehouse raves as well as glittering disco-nights with her impeccable skills and works hard on raising awareness about dance music’s queer and BIPOC roots wherever she appears.
Moxie from London built her career from a very different approach, namely as a radio DJ. The excellent and ever-curious digger’s road to success is closely tied to the famous NTS Radio, where’s she’s been hosting shows for what feels like a century by now. She’s gone on to host many more radio shows across the globe, run her own party series and label under the banner On Loop and all of these experiences shape her skills as a thrilling DJ with an unparalleled knowledge and passion for music ranging from classic Chicago House, Leftfield Breaks, underground Techno or sparkling Disco cuts!
