In the search for inspiration, different temporal perspectives can be helpful: past and present styles, the focus on current developments, a glimpse into the future. Music, like art and culture in general, lives from and depends on its context, whereas the context can also be of historical nature.
Paquita Gordon takes a comparatively left field approach, yielding captivating results by playing almost exclusively old vinyl records (“historical” tools and materials can also be one of the aforementioned perspectives). But it is not simply the quest to find the best of yesterday that interests Paquita Gordon: It is about the music that will still be innovative tomorrow that the Italian DJ is drawn to. The outcome is rich, varied and comes in many shapes: it can be electronic and organic, techno and house, jazz and dub, experimental and global, one could go on forever! The strict conceptual musical curation and, of course, Paquita’s formidable craftsmanship gives her mixes an alluring tension – and groove! – that no one can resist.
Stenny’s repertoire shows parallels to Paquita’s. It’s the ideational energy from the IDM, hardcore & jungle sounds of the past 90s, that power his sets. With an almost post-modern seeming radicalism, he sculpts a contemporary and innovative vision of techno out of these genres, which will almost certainly impress people in the future.
Muallem and Salome, on the other hand, like to keep things on the ground. The man behind Blitz himself simply plays the best of house, techno & electro with warm grooves and feeling for the crowd and community, whereas SALOME, straight outta Herrensauna, quickly brings the dancefloor to boiling point in minutes with her brand of rough, electro & trance-heavy techno.

Auf der Suche nach Inspiration können unterschiedliche zeitliche Perspektiven hilfreich sein: Vergangene Stile und Strömungen, der Fokus auf aktuelle Entwicklungen, der Blick in die Zukunft – Musik, wie Kunst und Kultur grundsätzlich, lebt von ihrem Kontext, der immer auch historischer Natur sein kann.
Paquita Gordon fährt einen vergleichsweise strengen Ansatz, der vielfältigste Früchte trägt, indem sie fast ausschließlich (und im weitesten Sinne) alte Platten spielt („historische“ Werkzeuge und Materialien können auch eine solche Perspektive sein). Aber es ist nicht einfach die Frage nach dem Besten von Gestern, was Paquita Gordon interessiert: Es sind die Platten, die auch morgen noch innovativ sein werden, welche die italienische DJ interessieren. Die Ergebnisse sind unterschiedlichster und beeindruckender Natur und gleichermaßen elektronisch und organisch, aus Techno und House, Jazz und Dub, Experimentelles und Globales, man könnte ewig fortfahren! Die strenge konzeptionelle Auswahl und natürlich auch ihre handwerklichen Fähigkeiten geben ihren Mixes bei der stilistischen Bandbreite eine Spannung – und Groove! – der bzw. dem sich niemand verwehren kann.
Stenny’s Auswahl weist Parallelen zu Paquita auf: die ideelle Energie seiner Mixes entspringt den IDM, Hardcore & Jungle-Sounds der 90er, die er mit einer beinahe schon post-modern anmutenden Radikalität zu einer zeitgemäßen und innovativen Form von Techno verschweißt und mit großer Sicherheit auch Menschen in Zukunft beeindruckend wird.
Muallem und Salome dagegen halten es gern straighter. Der Mann hinter dem Blitz selbst spielt mit warmen Groove und Gefühl das Beste aus House, Techno & Electro, wohingegen SALOME, straight outta Herrensauna, mit roughem, elektro- & trance-lastigen Techno den Dancefloor in minutenschnelle auf den Siedepunkt bringt.
