A lot has been said and written about the stunning and unusual blend of environmental science and modern disco, but aside from those fascinating, academic and abstract concepts, it’s the remarkable contemporary spin she adds to 90s Disco-House that truly wins veterans and first-timers alike. Her DJ sets shine by highlighting the common grounds between house and disco as decidedly Black styles of music, that stretch from lush, organic and live textures to more contemporary sorts of seductive synthetic funk. Young Marco is one of the left-field House scene’s most original artists and characterized by a unique sense of dramaturgy that’s driven by a mellower range of emotions that one might rather expect from the tender-white-boy sadness of Indie Rock parties, less from the functional clubworld – but with all the delicate and upbeat grooves we love about house and disco. It’s an acquired affair, that thankfully never gets lost in kitsch or clichées, thanks to his extensive repertoire knowledge that’s well displayed on his numerous compilations, covering cosmic Italo Disco and dutch rap, electro and so much more. Our trusted Blitz regular 600-cell’s knowledge stretches wide into dance music’s past: a digger at heart, armed with musical knowledge that punches way above his age (namely mostly playing music that’s been released before he was born), he plays with a fine sense of organic understatement, ranging from House, Breaks to obscure NDW & Japanese Pop.
