Ritournelle, the discerning festival format with its unique and seamless blend of club culture and avantgarde, Experimental Music returns with another two, all-night-long events to unite live concerts and DJ sets as well as ravers, nerds and curious music listeners in Munich and beyond. Mind-melting abstract club music, boggling non-western underground sounds and revolutionary queer aesthetics all come together under Ritournelle’s ever-expanding, never-resting musical umbrella. And this time not only on Blitz Club’s revered dancefloors, but also at a new and exciting venue in Munich: Zirka Space. The community spot for contemporary art and culture.
Rejoice for a weekend of inspiring live performances and stimulating DJ sets from some of the most exciting local, national and international artists around.

The lineup awaits with denizens of musical treats.

Friday at Blitz awaits with globally informed funk & groove way beyond the Western Hemisphere. South-African Pop-illuminary Moonchild Sanelly fuses Amapiano, Gqom, House & RnB, whereas Lady Lykez sculpts contemporary, club-schooled Dancehall and Grime and locals Schlachthofbronx unleash their unique and fun-fueled Munich Bass on the Blitz floor. All-Flinta*-collective Busy Bandulu Sound will get the booty’s shaking with Bass- & Dancehall while our Blitz-regular Polygonia closes the first night with her curation of contemporary, highly-refined cosmic Dubtechno. And Martyn? The Dutch luminary’s style is impossible to pinpoint, but always front-left of the game – his origins in UK-club music & Detroit-influenced Jazz merely hints at the vast horizon his music covers.

Taking place on Saturday evening at Zirka Space is Desire Marea’s orchestral soul that fuses avant-jazz and experimental club influences. Revolving around the namesake Dub-Techno pioneer, the Moritz von Oswald Trio featuring Christian Dillinger & Kelvin Sholar (a world premiere of this formation!) is set to explore the abstract terrain beyond minimal techno, jazz, and avant-ambient electronics with grace and style.

Saturday night at Blitz awaits with a total of three audiovisual performances: two German premieres from our resident Stenny (collaborating with Nic Paranoia) as well as from PYUR & TYMM NOVYY and the magnetizing anime, noize and gabber fusion-frenzy of Japan’s radical Violent Magic Orchestra before we hand the baton over to contemporary club music’s most forward-thinking protagonists: Objekt and Batu.
The cancelled-crew is taking over the PLUS floor yet again, with Ila Brugal & MJK next to Lara Fein & Sarmabot’s b2b for beguiling beats that cover the polarity of smart and sexy.

Come early to discover Polyphonic Museums’s pop-up, soundart installation in our foyer – Anton Kaun as well as Karin Zwack & Aus present their works! But that’s not all Anton Kaun has to offer on Saturday night: brace yourself for another one of his incendiary noise performances as RUMPELN, as he will play the night’s first and unforgetable set on the Blitz Floor.

Ritournelle, das anspruchsvolle Festivalformat mit seiner einzigartigen und nahtlosen Mischung aus Clubkultur und experimenteller Avantgarde-Musik kehrt mit zwei weiteren Abend- und Nachtüberdauereden Veranstaltungen zurück, die sowohl Live-Konzerte und DJ-Sets, als auch Raver*innen, Nerds und neugierige Musikhörer*innen weit über München hinaus vereinen.

Anregende, abstrakte Clubmusiken, verblüffende Underground-Sounds fernab der westlich-angloamerikanischen Einflusssphären und revolutionäre, queere Ästhetiken treffen unter dem beständig wachsenden musikalischen Dach von Ritournelle aufeinander.
Diesmal nicht nur auf den ehrwürdigen Tanzflächen des Blitz Clubs, sondern auch in einer der neusten und spannendsten Münchner Kulturorte: nämlich dem Zirka, dem Community-Spot für zeitgenössische Kunst und Kultur.

Das vollständige Line-up verspricht musikalische Schmankerl en masse.

Freitag lädt das Blitz zu einem Abend global-geprägter Grooves und Popmusik, die weit über die westliche Hemisphäre hinausreichen. Zu sehen sind die südakfrianische Pop-Koryphäe Moonchild Sanelly mit einer charismatischen Mischung aus Amapiano, Gqom, Grime, House & RnB und Lady Lykez aus London mit einem futuristischen, clubtauglichen Entwurf von Dancehall- & Grime. Fernab der Konventionen, aber fest verwurzelt in UK-Clubsounds & Detroit-inspired Jazz bewegt sich Martyn’s spektakulärer Stil. Local Favorites Schlachthofbronx sind zurück mit ihrem anregenden Munich Bass, das All-Flinta*-Kollektiv Busy Bandulu Sound serviert Bass & Dancehall zum Opening und unsere Regular Polygonia lässt die erste Nacht mit zeitgenössischem, sphärisch-hypnotischem Dubtechno ausklingen.

 

Den Samstagabend läuten wir mit zwei spektakulären Konzerten im Zirka Space ein. Das Moritz Von Oswald Trio rund um den namensgebenden Dub-Techno Pionier, diesmal mit Christian Dillinger & Kelvin Solar (eine Weltpremiere in dieser Formation!), leuchtet das abstrakte Terrain jenseits von Minimal-Techno, Jazz und Avant-Ambient-Elektronik mit Verve und Stil aus, wohingegen sich der orchestrale Soul von Desire Marea und seiner Band von der regionalen Avant-Jazz- wie Experimental-Club-Szene gleichermaßen beeinflusst zeigt.

Samstag Nacht im Blitz warten gleich mehrere audiovisuelle Live-Performances auf die Festivalgemeinde. Darunter die Deutschland-Premiere der Arbeit unseres Residents Stenny mit Nic Paranoia, aber auch die Kollaboration von PYUR & TYMM NOVY, neben dem Anime-, Noize- & Gabber-Spektakel des Violent Magic Orchestras aus Japan. Daraufhin geben wir den Abend in die Hände zwei der interessantesten Vertreter der zeitgenössischen Clubszene: Objekt und Batu, während die cancelled-Crew auf dem PLUS Floor die gesamte Polarität von Smart & Sexy ausloten wird. Neben dem Back to Back von Lara Fein und Sarmabot mit Ila Brugal & MJK.

Wer rechtzeitig kommt, darf über die beiden Klangkunst-Exponate von Anton Kaun & Karin Zwack staunen, die im Rahmen der Residency des Polyphonic Museum im Blitz–Foyer stehen werden. Ganz im Gegensatz zu den viszeralen Performances von RUMPELN, dem Live-Noise-Alias von Anton Kaun, die unbestritten zum Spannendsten gehören, das die Isarmetropole zu bieten hat.
