June’s Blitznacht Spezial – the night before Pfingstmontag – sees the debut of two revered profiles at Blitz: Maya Jane Coles and Acid Pauli, two artists with a flair for enigmatic, evocative, and widescreen sounds shaped by a wealth of musical perspectives.
Dubbed > one of her generation’s most prolific and inspired producers < by Resident Advisor, British(-Japanese) dance music luminary Maya Jane Coles crafts productions that are as eerie as they are funky, with a distinctive crossover appeal that’s earned her a premier position in today’s dance scene. Her path speaks for itself: early experiences with a range of instruments, teenage forays into hip-hop, and a staunch DIY approach to music-making when it comes to producing music. Naturally, her DJ sets mirror this kaleidoscopic spirit and her unique approach to music & mood, melodies & grooves.
Acid Pauli’s eclectic écriture is equally informed by an expansive set of influences. From his early days as a Bavarian teen in punk and indie bands, to his acclaimed Console moniker and productions, to his vital role in the influential German band The Notwist – Martin Gretschmann is known for playing unpredictable sets in unpredictable places. But one thing’s certain: it’s always a colourful and vivid ride.
And last but not least, our good friend Alessio Barletta rounds out the bill – a savvy selector deeply familiar with Blitz. As the founder of the Discontinuous label, he serves up fluid, ductile dancefloor delights with a particular love for the micro-shaded spectrum of electro and tech house.
