The history of LGTBQI+ communities (especially those of colour) and electronic music are inseparable. Club culture and its music was born in the LGTBQI+ community and helped the people to establish rare but important safer spaces of freedom, spaces to express and explore one’s gender and sexuality. At Blitz, we acknowledge the culture and history of the music we love to listen to, dance to and promote. It goes without saying that queer parties such as Cruise or Playground are part of the DNA of our club: For reasons of historic responsibility, for reasons of personal freedom. We all want and desperately need spaces in society where we can explore, express and also challenge our perception of our identity and orientation freely! But also because there are few things in life that match the vibe of a good queer house & techno party. That’s why we’re big fans of what our brothers and sisters in Amsterdam have created under the Is Burning banner: a rightfully renowned queer party series, with blazing passion for underground electronic dance music, especially house music. They create the space and the freedom everyone needs to shine and open up their inner self.

Tonight’s Cruise is – as always! — all about community and freedom as we team up for a special evening with our cherished friends from Is Burning.
Expect a colourful, multifaceted selection of techno-orientated house-sounds from none other than Carlos Valdes, the man behind Is Burning himself, on the BLITZ floor. Joining the expert for sensual and subtly tripping grooves with smooth bursts of acid is Titia, the Is Burning resident that focusses on coarser sounds such as acid, breakbeat and electro, all wrapped together in an engaging blend. Our highly esteemed and Cruise-experienced residents Sedef Adasi & Bashkka will round out affairs on the BLITZ floor.
Over on the PLUS floor, Gabrielle Kwarteng plays a highly vivacious, eclectic blend of house and the same goes for S-candalo, the DJ duo consisting of shooting star THC and her brother DHC. Vuur from Amsterdam keeps his online personal information at a minimum, but we’re particularly excited about his highly dynamic fusion of techno and house, guaranteeing elevation to higher spheres.

Die Geschichte der LGTBQI+-Community (insbesondere der People of Colour) und der elektronischen Musik sind untrennbar miteinander verbunden. Clubkultur und ihre Musik wurden in der LGTBQI+-Gemeinschaft geboren und halfen den Menschen andererseits, seltene und lebenswichtige, geschützte Freiräume zu schaffen. Räume, in denen Menschen ihre Sexualität und Genderorientierung ausdrücken und erkunden konnten.
Im Blitz erkennen wir die Geschichte der Kultur und Musik an, die wir um unser Leben gerne hören, dazu tanzen und veranstalten möchten.
Es versteht sich von selbst, dass queere Partys wie Cruise oder Playground zur DNA unseres Clubs gehören. Aus Gründen der historischen Verantwortung, aber vor allem aus purer Überzeugung: Menschen benötigen persönliche Freiräume in der Gesellschaft, in denen wir unsere Identität, Orientierung und die Wahrnehmung davon frei erkunden, ausdrücken und auch hinterfragen können. Aber auch weil es wenige Dinge im Leben gibt, die mit dem Vibe einer guten, queeren House & Techno Party mithalten können.
Deshalb sind wir große Fans von dem, was unsere Brüder und Schwestern in Amsterdam unter dem Banner Is Burning auf die Beine gestellt haben: eine zu Recht renommierte queere Partyreihe, mit brennender Leidenschaft für elektronische Underground-Musik, insbesondere House. Sie schaffen Räume voller Freiheit, in denen wir uns öffnen, strahlen und ganz bei uns sein können.
Bei der Cruise heute Abend geht es – wie immer! – um Gemeinschaft und Freiheit, vor allem wenn wir uns für diesen besonderen Anlass unsere Freund*innen von Is Burning ins Haus einladen.

Auf dem BLITZ-Floor erwartet euch eine farbenfrohe, facettenreiche Auswahl an techno-orientiertem House-Sound von niemand Geringerem als Carlos Valdes, dem Mann hinter Is Burning selbst. Neben dem Experten für sinnliche und feinfühlig trippende Grooves mit sanften Acid-Noten besucht uns Titia, die Is Burning-Resident, die mit gröberen Klängen von Acid, Breakbeat und Electro überzeugt. Unsere hochgeschätzten und Cruise-erfahrenen Residents Sedef Adasi & Bashkka runden das Geschehen auf dem BLITZ Floor ab.
Auf dem PLUS-Floor steht sowohl eine temperamentvolle, eklektische House-Mischung von Gabrielle Kwarteng als auch das Duo S-candalo auf dem Programm. S-candalo ist der Name des back to back Sets der Senkrechtstarterin THC und ihrem Bruder DHC. Vuur aus Amsterdam hält sich mit persönlichen Informationen im Netz zurück, wir sind aber gespannt auf seine hochdynamische und elastische Fusion aus Techno und House, die uns garantiert in höhere Sphären befördern wird.
