We’re delighted to announce a special evening celebrating 20 years of the seminal Hotflush Recordings. They have been pivotal in accompanying and shaping British Bass Music’s development in the 2000s, right through to Post-Dubstep’s development and diversification into the realms of House, Techno and way beyond.
The core of Hotflush’s undertakings stems from Paul Rose aka Scuba himself: not just an acclaimed labelhead, he’s an extraordinary versatile and gifted DJ and producer too. It’s not hard to see where Hotflush’s multidimensional approach stems from, but it will be up to future music historians to entangle whether it’s the label itself or the artists that benefited more from its symbiosis. One thing’s for sure, no two Scuba sets are the same, especially when he goes back to back with the stunning Or:La: Known for a bass-heavy and break-tinged slant on contemporary club music, her sets shine with emphasis on groove and opaque textures, that need no flashing sounds to leave a lasting impression. Besides the rare back to back, there’s a live-set from Shackleton to anticipate. Characterized by austere soundscapes and moods, his live-sets are known for their haunting and brooding blend of minimalism and esoterics, marked by gripping tension and sitting comfortable between the eerie and amorphous spaces betwixt dubstep and techno.
Our hometown boys Glaskin have had a fair share of stunning releases on Hotflush too, showcasing muscular techno with spherical dub-textures to engross your mind and soul. They reliably get dance floors moving in the early hours and we’re happy to trust them with the crucial opening set tonight and are very excited to see where they’ll steer our spaceship sailing under the Hotflush flag tonight.

20 Jahre Hotflush Recordings schreien nach einer besonderen Feier – wir freuen uns, einer der Jubiläumsparties der einflussreichen Labels im Blitz auszurichten, schließlich hat das Label die Entwicklung der britischen Bassmusik in den 2000er Jahren entscheidend begleitet und geprägt, bis hin zur Entwicklung und Diversifizierung von Post-Dubstep in die Bereiche House, Techno und weit darüber hinaus.
An der Basis von Hotflush agiert Scuba. Er ist nicht nur ein renommierter Labelbetreiber, sondern auch ein vielseitiger DJ & Produzent. Es verwundert niemanden, dass hier die Wuzeln des facettenreichen Ansatzes von Hotflush anfangen. Bei seinen weitreichenden Einflüssen gleicht kein Scuba-Set dem anderen, vor allem nicht, wenn er im back to back mit Or:la auflegt. Bekannt für ihre bass- und breaklastige Interpretation zeitgenössischer Clubmusik, überzeugen ihre Sets mit Groove und klanglichem Understatement – Or:La braucht keine schrillen Trance-Edits, um einen bleibenden Eindruck zu hinterlassen.Mittendrin drin im Programm: Ein Live-Set von Shackleton. Die sind für ihre eindringliche Mischung aus Minimalismus und Esoterik, aber vor allem für die schaurigen Zwischentöne aus dem Zwielicht von Dubstep und Techno bekannt – einer Mischung, der sich niemand entziehen kann.
Unsere Residents Glaskin haben ebenfalls eine ganze Reihe von beeindruckenden Veröffentlichungen auf Hotflush vorzuweisen, auf denen sie kraftvoll artikulierten Techno mit sphärischen Dub-Texturen präsentieren. Sie bringen den Dancefloor zuverlässig in Bewegung und wir sind sehr gespannt darauf, wohin sie unser Raumschiff unter der Hotflush-Flagge steuern werden.
