In the world of Noise Manifesto, darkness and brute force are carriers of musical expression rather than being simple and sensational means to an end that ends in itself. That’s what earns the label a special place in the current electronic music landscape. Noise Manifesto reminds the techno scene, that’s currently obsessed with a restless hunger for maxed-out kicks and cinematic dystopia, that it is possible to promote and create crushing and oppressing electronic dance music with depth and soul too.
We’re happy to celebrate ten years of the industrial noise and techno-label fronted by Paula Temple at Blitz on Easter Sunday. > Distort sound/norms. < is the label’s credo, and that’s what Paula Temple has always been about. Whether it’s about treating sound waves or as a founding member of the pivotal female:pressure collective, Paula Temple shakes up dance floors, norms and habits with her label policy or formats such as the exciting > decon/recon < series and her hybrid performance approach. Paula Temple is, quite simply, a force of nature and one of today’s genuinely influential artists that’s not be missed, no matter what kind of music you’re interested in.
But, true to Paula Temple’s character and approach, the evening is in no way centred around her own music and personality. WTCHCRFT from New York, for example, plays a refreshing and dashing take on acid and techno with an appealing rhythmic approach that could best be described as jam-packed and hip-hop orientated. OCD meanwhile, captures and recreates the hyperaccelerationist overload of our current world & society in her music and creates a captivating, yet dense and unsettling experience with her stirring curation of propulsive hard techno. Esther Dune plays thrilling sets with her blend of robust, acid- and Detroit inspired hard-techno with Dutch & German streaks as well as the loose and uplifting grooves of house music – a challenging balancing act she masters in style.

In der Welt von Noise Manifesto sind düstere und brachiale Klänge Träger des musikalischen Ausdrucks, anstatt reiner Selbstzweck zu sein. Das ist es, was das Label innerhalb der Szene so besonders macht. Noise Manifesto zeigt, dass erdrückende Kicks und cineastische Dystopie nicht nur platte Hype-Phänomene sein müssen, sondern auch mit Tiefgang und Gefühl gespielt, produziert und veröffentlicht werden können.
Am Ostersonntag feiern wir das zehnjährige Bestehen des Industrial, Noise & Techno-Labels von Paula Temple, das sich den Slogan > Distort sound/norms. < auf Fahnen geschrieben hat. Und genau darum ging es in Paula Temple’s Schaffen ohnehin schon immer. Ob im rein musikalischen Ansatz, als Gründungsmitglied des bedeutenden female:pressure Kollektivs, ihrer Labelpolitik oder mit Formaten wie der spannenden > decon/recon < Reihe oder mit ihrem hybriden Performance-Ansatz: Paula Temple krempelt Normen, Gewohnheiten und Dancefloors um und ist, man kann es kaum anders sagen, eine Naturgewalt und eine der wahrlich einflussreichen Künstler*innen von heute. Die man genau deswegen keineswegs verpassen sollte, egal für welche Art von Musik man sich interessiert.
Ganz ihrem Ansatz entsprechend geht es heute Abend nicht nur um Paula Temple, denn sie hat ein starkes Team mitgebracht. WTCHCRFT aus New York zum Beispiel spielt eine erfrischende und treibende Interpretation von Acid und Techno mit einem ansprechenden rhythmischen Ansatz, den man am besten als Jam-lastig und Hip-Hop-orientiert beschreiben könnte.
OCD hingegen fängt die hyperakzelerationistische Überlastung unserer heutigen Welt und Gesellschaft mit ihrer Musik bestens ein und schafft mit zielstrebigem Techno der harten Gangart fesselnde und beunruhigende musikalische Erfahrungen der aufregenden Sorte. Esther Dune spielt packende Sets mit einer Mischung aus kräftigem, Acid- und Detroit-inspiriertem Hardtechno, der gleichermaßen von holländischen und deutschen Einflüssen geprägt ist, als auch den lockeren und erhebenden Grooves der Housemusik. Kein einfacher Spagat, den Esther Dune dennoch mit Bravour meistert.
