Paula Temple is all about the future. And the cathartic force of uncompromising, dark & industrial techno sounds. Jeff Mills’ famous statement: “Techno was not designed to be a dance music, it was designed to be a futuristic statement.” thereby stands as Paula Temple’s guiding principle.
This mindset materializes in her work as a (music) hardware developer as well as part of the Decon/Recon collectives she initiated, which experiment with new collaborative forms of production & performance and the de- as well as the reconstruction of the idea of “the artist”. But also in her engagement with the female:pressure network for a better, more diverse future of our scene. Or in the form of her hybrid live set-up, bridging the gap between DJing and sample-based performance, exploring new means of musical expression. Paula Temple‘s take on music is highly political and is set to make tomorrow’s world a more creative and accessible place to everyone. The result of her approach: music that’s not just crushing, but sensual and well-thought-out, powered by her strong, ethical positions that stretch far beyond music.

Rebekah‘s sound is similarly direct and powerful, with well-defined kick drums full of brute force. She plays and produces no frills music for dark rooms and all in straightforward motion and goes all the way, all the time. Two of Munich’s most promising artists join the party on the BLITZ floor. Jonas Yamer plays the sweetest breakbeat-orientated techno you could imagine and releases similar sounds on his own, hotly tipped underground label Molten Moods. We cherish him for his almost wavey-interpretation of techno that plays with trance influences too. Our residents Glaskin, on the other hand, are absolute specialists for rolling and swinging break-laden techno rhythms.

We’re going to try something new on the PLUS floor tonight and are excited about a sub-bass heavy lineup focusing on UK-oriented styles such as jungle, drum & bass, dubstep, footwork, grime and many more. Darwin is well known for her highly skilled DJ-Sets and her prestigious party series Reef, that both seek new and unknown territory between the aforementioned UK-Styles and techno. Expect a whirlwind of adventurous rhythms and tempos from her, and our next guest, Fracture. He’s a veteran of the UK jungle and drum & bass scene and probably mixes more tunes and wild grooves together in one set alone than most people do in a lifetime. All at breakneck speed with razor-sharp precision, of course. He’s an institution to be reckoned with. Then we’ve got busy and highly talented local players behind the decks with Rosi96, one of the Radio 80000 founders and a back2back set by Glen and Kelburrt from the Ghosttown crew. They all play a seminal role in keeping our city’s underground fresh, vibrant as well as bass-heavy. Hoods up folk, it’s time to skank.

In Paula Temple’s Schaffen geht es stets um die Zukunft. Und die katharsische Wucht kompromissloser, industrieller-düsterer Techno-Sounds. Sie steht in der Tradition von Jeff Mills’ Leitspruch: “Techno wurde nicht als Tanzmusik entwickelt, sondern als futuristische Behauptung.” Das offenbart sich in ihrer Tätigkeit als (Musik-)Hardware-Entwicklerin sowie als Teil der von ihr initiierten Decon/Recon Konzept-Kollektiven, die mit neuen und freien, kollaborativen Formen von Produktion & Performance experimentieren und das Konzept des bzw. der “Künstler*innen” dekonstruiert wie rekonstruiert werden soll. Aber auch in ihrem Engagement mit dem female:pressure Netzwerk für eine bessere, diversere Zukunft unserer Szene. Oder in Form ihres hybriden Live-Setups, das zwischen DJing und samplebasierter Performance arbeitet und neue Ausdrucksformen auslotet. Paula Temple’s Ansatz ist hochpolitisch und immer daran eine freiere, kreativere und gerechtere Welt zu schaffen. Ihre Musik ist erdrückend, gleichwohl sinnlich als auch durch und durch reflektiert.
Rebekah’s Sound ist ähnlich direkt und kraftvoll, mit Kickdrums voller scharf umrissener Kanten und von brachialer Wucht. >Ornament und Verbrechen< könnte auch ihr Motto sein, denn ihre Musik kennt keinen Schnickschnack und nur eine Richtung: mit Vollgas straight nach vorne, keine Umwege. Zu Paula Temple & Rebekah gesellen sich zwei der besten Münchner Artists auf dem BLITZ Floor hinzu. Jonas Yamer ist auch als Kopf des kleinen und feinen Breaktechno-Labels Molten Moods bekannt und vergleichbar klingt auch sein Sound, wobei wir seine drahtige, fast wavige-Interpretation der Sounds besonders schätzen, die auch gerne mit trancigen Untertönen spielt. Unsere beiden Residents Glaskin dagegen sind absolute Spezialisten für rollende und schwungvolle, ebenfalls breaklaste Technogrooves.

Auf dem PLUS Floor freuen wir uns auf besonders tiefe Töne, denn BASS wird hier großgeschrieben, der Fokus liegt hier heute auf UK-orientierten Stilen wie Jungle, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Footwork, Grime und und und. Die Berliner Darwin forscht im Rahmen ihrer Partyreihe Reef mit internationalen Gästen an neuen Verbindungen von UK-Styles mit Techno. Ihre eigenen Mixe bewegen sich in einem ähnlichen Bereich und vereinen dabei die abenteuerlichsten Rhythmen und Tempi zu atemberaubenden, akustischen Achterbahnfahrten.
Fracture ist Veteran der UK-Jungle und Drum & Bass Szene und mixt allein in einem Set, bei strammen BPM-Zahlen, wahrscheinlich mehr Tunes und wilde Grooves zusammen als manche in ihrem ganzen Leben. Mit messerscharfer Präzision, freilich. Mit Rosi96, einer der Gründerinnen von Radio 80000 und einem back2back Set von Glen und Kelburrt von der Ghosttown-Crew haben wir umtriebige und höchst talentierte lokale Player aus München an den Decks.
