„From the Mind of Seth Troxler“ is the claim of Slacker 85. He grew up just outside Detroit, the city & culture that shaped his musical approach. Already working the city’s Melodies & Memories record store at sixteen, Seth Troxler has become one of electronic music’s most vivid personalities. Stretching way beyond the decks and the studio, he’s a cultural commentator, restaurateur, art curator and much more. Through Tuskegee, co-founded with The Martinez Brothers to champion artists of colour and restore the music’s gaze to the Black communities that created it, and through the Lost Souls of Saturn audio-visual project, which has taken him into the art world too, Seth has cultivated a wide range of practices that underline his eclectic musical approach.
Slacker 85 is among his latest projects: a home for „the oddball, esoteric and diverse sounds that are forthcoming from a wide range of artists and genres,“ and that’s what its event at Blitz is all about.

Magda, born in Poland, arrived in Detroit at age nine and found techno through Richie Hawtin’s Spastik party at the Packard Plant in 1994, long before the M_nus years, running the Items & Things imprint and her current Shades of Blur project. Among her formative loves were New Order and My Bloody Valentine: a footnote underlining the wide range of perspectives she carries to the floor. „Being inspired by new music and new artists in various contexts is key. I can’t just sit in some comfy techno bubble,“ she said.

Krystal Klear, Dublin-born, New York-based, channels the vintage musical magic from 1980 to 1994, from post-disco, electro, Italo, new wave to New York house, garage & techno with pop instinct, exemplified in 2018’s “Neutron Dance” on Gerd Janson’s Running Back.

Rounding out the night is Acid Ted: there’s not much you’ll find on the web about the enigmatic character, so you’ve gotta find out the old-school way: on the dancefloor. Yet his name already hints at his musical inspirations.
