VOAM, the label founded by the two UK-dons Blawan and Pariah, has only been on the map for a few years and with only have eight releases out, yet it’s one of the hottest and most exciting labels around. Why? Because it’s about machine music in the best of ways. Not about stylized synthesizer presets, but all about live wire sounds, full of hum and electricity: Rough and real. Noisy and intense: the sound of the machines. Hard hitting dance music, with a refreshing sense of giddiness and explorative freedom, capturing the passionate rush of the early techno era. Paired with contemporary sound design skills from the turn of the 2020s. Karenn, the collaboration project of the two label heads Blawan & Pariah, renounces any overloaded, intellectual concepts and instead focus on completely analogue, improvised live sets without any frills. Powerful and vital, the music goes full throttle and ignites the ravers in us, whether it’s at 110 or 150 beats per minute. Piska Power takes VOAM’s sonic approach even further. The Berlin DJ plays and produces electrifying music that truly lives up to its tag. It rattles, buzzes and crackles in compelling fashion. We are very much anticipating Stefan Junge’s appearance at Blitz, all geared up to dance the night away to the magnetising, kinetic soundscapes that boil down techno to the constituent forms we love so much. Our resident Stenny from Ilian Tape knows what gets us going. He’s well known for raucous rides between techno, jungle and breakbeats, taking cues from IDM & hardcore too — are there any sonic mountains this man couldn’t climb? Probably not. Each of his sets at the Blitz are a highlight and we can’t wait to see where we’ll end up after our next trip with him.

VOAM, das von den beiden UK-Größen Blawan und Pariah gegründete Label ist zwar kaum ein paar Jahre alt und hat gerade einmal acht Veröffentlichungen draußen, aber gehört zu den hottesten und spannendsten Labels überhaupt. Warum? Weil es Maschinenmusik im besten Sinne veröffentlicht. Hier gibt es keine stilisierten Synthesizersounds, sondern Klänge, die in erster Linie konkret sind: lärmig und kratzig. Rough und real. Intensiv: Der Sound der Maschinen eben, back to basics. Vom Geist des Sturm & Drangs der frühen Techno-Ära getrieben. VOAM Releases besinnen sich auf dieses Mindset, überzeugen dabei aber durch Sounddesign auf Höhe der Zeit. Karenn, das Kollaborationsprojekt der beiden Labelchefs Blawan & Pariah verzichtet auf etwaige überfrachtete, intellektuelle Konzepte und setzt dafür vollständig auf durchweg analoge, improvisierte Livesets. Kraftvoll, lebendig und mit mächtigem Drive zieht die Musik nach vorne auf das Parkett und bringt, egal ob auf 110 oder 150 BPM, wirklich alle Beine in Bewegung. Piska Power treibt den klanglichen Ansatz des Labels dabei noch weiter auf die Spitze. Der Berliner Künstler spielt und produziert im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes elektrisierende Musik: Es rattert, knistert und flimmert dabei auf berauschende Art und Weise. Wir freuen uns sehr auf die Nacht, in der Stefan Junge die ganze Palette elektronischer (Stör-)Geräusche in tanzbarer wie mitreißender Façon für die Tanzfläche auf der Museumsinsel inszeniert. Unser guter Freund und Resident Stenny von Ilian Tape wird uns vollständig in Ekstase versetzen. Er nimmt uns auf rauschend-rasande, plastische Trips zwischen Techno, Jungle und Breakbeats, aber auch IDM & Hardcore mit – gibt es irgendwelche Gipfel, die dieser Mann auf seinen außergewöhnlichen Klangfahrten nicht bezwingen kann? Wohl nicht. Jedes seiner Sets im Blitz ist ein Highlight und wir sind – wie immer! – hoch gespannt, wo uns die Reise dieses Mal hinführen wird.
