Stefan Kozalla aka DJ Koze, started as a rapper in Flensburg in the early 1990s. Moving through Hamburg’s underground, he built a career across multiple guises: Fischmob in hip-hop, International Pony alongside Cosmic DJ and Erobique, Monaco Schranze on Kompakt and the more experimental Adolf Noise. His imprint Pampa Records isn’t afraid to break convention and ventures for the personal and unusual, even on the dancefloor.
His latest album Music Can Hear Us, released on his own Pampa in 2025, was made alongside Damon Albarn, Soap&Skin, Sofia Kourtesis and Sophia Kennedy. Koze has spoken of the record as a political act: music that can feel our pain, our destiny, our euphoria, our wishes, our demands.“ And concluding: „It’s somehow political also.“ In the DJ booth, he demonstrates his emotional, instinct-driven and eclectic approach.
