Die Orakel is a label run by Oliver Hafenbauer, resident DJ, label manager and creative director of Robert Johnson club. One of the key artist is Jaures, in the game with 3 fantastic 12″s for the label already. There is also an interesting article in the current issue of Groove magazine about Oliver and the label. They will play alongside our resident Leo Küchler on Friday, September 15th.

Der deutsche Fotograf und Künstler, der unter anderem auch für viel Kunst im Berghain gesorgt hat, hat die tolle Kampagne Between The Bridges ins Leben gerufen. Er ruft alle Wahlberechtigten dazu auf sich an der Bundestagswahl am nächsten Sonntag zu beteiligen. Wir sagen: “Richtig so! Wählen gehen!”

Liebe Freunde und Kollegen,

es besteht die reale Gefahr, dass viele Menschen am 24. September zu Hause bleiben, weil sie glauben, das Wahlergebnis bereits zu kennen.

Die Mitte der Gesellschaft wähnt sich in Sicherheit, während die AfD für die letzten Tage des Wahlkampfes eine massive Internetkampagne plant. Dabei nutzt sie die Dienste der amerikanischen Agentur Harris Media, die bereits im vergangenen Jahr geholfen hat Brexit und Trump durchzusetzen. Sie wird eine für Deutschland bisher ungekannte Polemik einsetzen.

Ihre Werbemittel appellieren an nationalistische Ressentiments und sie hoffen 15% der Stimmen zu bekommen. Damit könnte es sein, dass sie die stärkste Oppositionsfraktion werden und in jeder Bundestagssitzung als erste nach der Regierung sprechen. Dann hätten sie die Möglichkeit, wie schon in den Landtagen bewiesen, scheibchenweise Tabubrüche vorzunehmen und rechtsradikales Gedankengut zu normalisieren.

Es gibt keinen Grund entspannt zu sein und zu glauben, die neuen rechtsnationalistischen Bewegungen würden an Deutschland vorüberziehen.

Die AfD ist nicht harmlos. Nach außen ist sie bestrebt, ein nicht-radikales Bild abzugeben, doch kann ich in dem Plakatmotiv des schwangeren Bauches einer weißen Frau mit dem Spruch ‘Neue Deutsche machen wir selbst’ nur eine Vorstufe der Lebensborn-Initiative sehen.

Das wahre Gedankengut der AfD-Politiker kommt immer wieder in öffentlichen Entgleisungen und Leaks zum Vorschein. Sind sie erstmal stark im Bundestag vertreten, können sie sich dort über Jahre festsetzen und die Mittel der Demokratie nutzen und missbrauchen, um unser Gemeinwesen zu vergiften. Wir brauchen keine Partei, die aktiv und destruktiv die Spaltung der Bevölkerung vorantreibt.

Nach den Erfahrungen von Brexit, Trump und den 30% Front National in Frankreich empfinde ich das dringende Bedürfnis, das mir Mögliche zu tun, damit Rechtspopulismus in Deutschland in kleinen Grenzen bleibt.

Die AfD-Wähler/innen werden wir vielleicht nicht umstimmen können. Daher ist das Einzige, was hilft: eine hohe Wahlbeteiligung und Stimmen für die anderen Parteien, damit der prozentuale Anteil der AfD klein bleibt.

Dafür habe ich mit meinem Team Poster entworfen, die an zehntausend Adressen im ganzen Land verschickt werden. Sie sind ebenfalls als A3/A4 Formate zum Selberdrucken und im Social-Media-Format auf dieser Website www.betweenbridges.net herunterladbar.

Bitte vermittelt möglichst vielen Menschen, Bekannten und Familie die Dringlichkeit der Situation. Jede Stimme zählt. Druckt die Poster aus und fragt in Kneipe, Bäckerei, Arbeitsplatz, ob ihr eins aufhängen könnt. Oder postet sie online.

NYC Legend Justin Strauss has recently interviewed Trevor Jackson for Ace Hotel‘s blog. Justin is a fantastic artist and DJ who has been part of the NYC music and art scene since the early days of the Paradise Garage. He regularly visits our good friend Benjamin Röder to play at our beloved joint venue Charlie Bar. Trevor is one of the most outstanding artists from the UK of the past two decades. His passionate work includes projects in the areas music, design, moving image and much more. We are very proud and happy that Trevor is the man behind all visual design of Blitz Club & Restaurant. We’ve been blown away when reading this interesting article published by Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Apart from giving a deep and critical insight into the current state of the art form of photography, it also includes some valuable thoughts that depict why we think dance music clubs should ban photography. The article is published in German.

Recently the amazing German dance music lover  Heiko M/S/O lost his fight against cancer. Although lots of young kids might not have heard about him before, he was a very prominent figure in the establishment of club and dance music culture in Germany and was famous for his very kind and humble spirit. We’ve only been able to meet him a couple of times, but every time we did, we appreciated it immensely. He was part of the famous Wild Pitch crew in Frankfurt, resident at Offenbachs Robert Johnson and one of the people behind the labels Ongaku, Playhouse and Klang which set the global standard for over a decade. A couple of weeks before he died, he decided to record 12 mixes for people to be heard after his death. Five of them have just been published on his website. Its a five part set through which Heiko tried to encapsulate the spirit of the early years (1987-1988) at the legendary Dorian Grey club in Frankfurt. On a site note, Dorian Grey was the only German club that featured a Richard Long sound system. The picture shows Heiko in the middle, accompanied by a young nd_baumecker on the left and  a young ATA on the right. LEGENDS!

We just listened to the mixes and had goosebumps throughout. Amazing music that needs to be heard.

With news that tapes are in fact not dead, Jason Kennedy rounds up the best cassette players for home listening and advises on what to look out for when buying vintage.

Tape decks or recorders are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative form of analogue source following the rather unexpected cassette comeback. The format is particularly popular in the experimental electronic field but also chart-topping releases are finding their way on to tape again.

Today very few tape decks are still being made, in fact in our search we couldn’t find any non portable types on the market. However, as cassette was a massively popular format up until the late nineties there are plenty available second hand and often for giveaway prices.
