For the upcoming Cruise we’re collaborating with the Berlin gone-global queer-party phenomenon Mala Junta. Renowned for their high standards on inclusivity and diversity, they place a strong emphasis on classic, DIY-driven community ethos and intimate parties – and even bring their own selectors with them! Musically, Mala Junta is about hard and fast techno, old-school and funky, played from a vital and present perspective, with prominent streaks of psychedelic trance and the contemporary breakbeat-scene. Rough and gritty, they serve decidedly > underground < vibes, all while keeping the uplifting momentum. Relentless, yet colourful, close to the contemporary Copenhagen-style with close ties to its esteemed Fast Forward gang, Mala Junta’s brand of music is a tour de force in contemporary techno.

But it’s not just about importing sounds tonight, as we cross-polinate the Mala Junta with our renowned Cruise blossom for full-blooming, queer party ecstasy. Tonight’s winning team consists of Mala Junta’s founders Hyperaktivist and DJ Tool next to their resident, Why Be, Mala Junta as well Blitz’s good friends Mama Snake and Nene H (going b2b with DJ Tool!), Maricas founder ISAbella, Blitz’s very own Bashkka and the highly exciting Yazzus, will be fusing black electronic dance music culture from both sides of the Atlantic into an exhilarating musical ride. Mala Junta may mean “bad behaviour” and/or “bad company” in Spanish, but tonight’s all about naughty behaviour, music and good vibes – that’s how we cruise tonight!

Für unsere kommende Cruise haben wir uns das global gefeierte, queere Berliner Party-Phänomen Mala Junta eingeladen. Bekannt für ihre hohen Ansprüche an Diversität und Inklusivität legen sie großen Wert auf einen klassischen, DIY-basierten Community-Ethos und intime Partys – und bringen sogar ihre eigenen Selektor*innen mit! Musikalisch steht bei der Mala Junta harter und schneller Techno im Mittelpunkt, Old-Skool im Kern und zeitgemäß inszeniert sowie dezidiert funky und mit deutlichen Spuren der aktuellen psychedelischen Trance- und der Breakbeat-Szenen. Dark und rough, eben unmissverständlich > Underground < und doch mit euphorischem Schwung. Intensiv und farbenfroh. So klingt der Mala–Junta Sound, der eng mit dem gegenwärtigen Kopenhagen-Style und der dort ansässigen Fast Forward Crew verbunden ist.

Das Team des heutigen Abends, aus der Schnittmenge der Cruise und Mala Junta Sounds ausgewählt, besteht aus den Mala Junta Gründer*innen Hyperaktivist und DJ Tool, aber auch ihrem Resident Why Be. Den guten Blitz, Cruise & Mala Junta Freundinnen Mama Snake und Nene H (im Back to back mit DJ Tool). Wir schicken unsere stets zu Hochleistungen auflaufende Resident Bashkka ins Rennen und darüber hinaus besuchen uns die Maricas-Gründerin ISAbella und die aufstrebende Yazzus, welche die schwarze elektronische Musikkultur beider Seiten des Atlantiks in anregende Mixes verschweißt. Mala Junta mag auf Spanisch für “schlechtes Benehmen” oder “schlechte Gesellschaft” stehen, aber heute Abend geht es um nichts mehr und nichts weniger als frivole Ekstase – so cruisen wir durch den Februar!
