Aurora Halal – 10/03/18

Over the past four years Aurora Halal has made big waves throughout the international dance circuit. The trippy aesthetics and intensity of her DJ sets and hardware live jams have always been standing out. The creator of New York’s Mutual Dreaming party series and the Sustain-Release festival quickly became one of the most devoted figures of the new generation of US techno. Nowadays touring some of the most forward-thinking underground clubs and festivals, such as Unsound, Atonal, de School, Berghain, we’re happy to welcoming her at Blitz this Saturday.

Check out her live jam for the Ilian Tape Podcast series from last year below.

Martyn – 09/03/18

Throughout the many layers of his winding journey in electronic music, Holland native Martijn Deijkers, aka Martyn, has always stood in a genreless scene of his own. His distinct path through bass-driven music of all shapes and colours started out on play:musik and Marcus Intalex’ Revolve:r label, followed by releases on Tectonic, Brainfeeder, Ninja Tune and Ostgut Ton, as well as his own 3024 imprint, just to name a few. However, a strong love for house music and warm technosoul always shined through. So teaming up with the likes of Four Tet, Efdemin, Shed and UR’s Santiago Salazar for some compelling collaborations and remixes was just a natural progression. Now based in Washington D.C. Martyn continually connects arts and scenes, whether by reshaping his timeless classic „Great Lengths“, heavily gigging around the globe, or hosting his monthly „Layovers“ radio show on NTS.

Check out his latest „Angels EP“ on Steffi’s Dolly Dubs imprint, featuring three dubby and jacking UK-influenced gems here.

ONE YEAR PLAYGROUND – 03/03/18

After our joint blissful 24-hour party marathon into this present year, we’re happy to partnering up with the Playground crew once again. With the aim for upgrading the Munich nightlife for the open-minded party crowd, they’ve constantly put on hard-hitting raves over the past 12 months. Yes, indeed, it’s time for an exceptional birthday edition in Blitz this Saturday. Get yourself prepared for another long-lasting night featuring a remarkable cast of DJs. Just get a taste of it below…

First off, Francois X’ formidable debut album „Irregular Passion,“ out on the Parisian Dement3d label, clearly deserves a worthy celebration. Drawing inspiration from the bustling nightlife with its intense sensations, the French techno stalwart playfully crafts an enthralling and unsettling, yet sensual ambience. Currently completing a huge tour throughout Europe and Asia, Francois X will adeptly dip the Blitz Floor into sexual tension and blurry atmospheres.

Joining him will be no less than Benelux techno legend Speedy J. One of the pioneers pushing new sounds foward in the 90’s, alongside Laurent Garnier, Aphex Twin or Richie Hawtin, and establishing Rotterdam as a musical trademark. With a back catalogue, ranging from Warp Records and Planet Mu to Stroboscopic Artefacts and his own Electric Deluxe imprint, this will be one for the records.

Panorama Bar resident Roi Perez sees his approach to DJing in purely wanting to let the music play. An admirer of possibilities and the power of expression, the Israeli native takes the audience on a dynamic musical journey through genres and styles. And even off-clubland, he hones his craft in such brilliant mixes as the recent one on Rinse FM.

Rounding off the bill at Blitz floor will be our dear club resident Julietta. Her profound devotion to warm house grooves and melodies since the early 90’s made her become the unique activist in Munich clubland that she nowaday is. With an aptly intuition, her sets floatingly vary between House and Techno with all its deep and dubby facets.

The PLUS room is about to get deep on Saturday! The Irish native Cormac not only held DJ residencies in global entities like D-edge Brazil, Culture Box Copenhagen, Space Ibiza and fabric London, his productions also gained Kudos from Miss Kittin to Jennifer Cardini and Nina Kraviz. Young Berlin native Nitam meanwhile stands for moody, melodic synth sequences combined with uplifting elements. In quite an instance his mix of classic house with modern techno slant lead to regular appearances at Panorama Bar and two releases at Ostgut Ton’s sublabel Unterton. Third in the round will be Playground resident Rony Golding. Almost 20 years in the DJ game, the Cologne DJ and producer moves around tech house and progressive techno for some of the most amous underground gay parties in Europe.

Job Jobse – 02/03/18

Joining Roman Flügel at this Friday’s ‚Sister Midnight‘ Munich edition will be Dutch balearic ambassador Job Jobse. After learning the ropes at Amsterdam’s legendary club 11, he went from an internship at the renowned Innervisions label in Berlin, to taking over the booking lead of the infamous Trouw nightclub (RIP) where he started his Drukpers night and DJ residency. Job’s natural affinity for soundtracking the dancefloor with excellent sets quickly made waves and he nowadays works himself through a heavy touring schedule. Often sharing the booth with the likes of Gerd Janson, Dixon and Ben UFO, he’s leaving his mark around the globe – from Burning Man to Panorama Bar, Nachtdigital and, of course, with his acclaimed appearance at Dekmantel last year.

Roman Flügel – 02/03/18

It’s safe to say that Roman Flügel is one of the key players on the German electronic scene. Whether with his long-term collaborator Jörn Elling Wuttke or under one of his various monikers, Roman spawned sounds and trends since the early ’90s. Remember big room anthems like Alter Ego’s “Rocker” and “Geht’s Noch?,” or the ambient and folky spheres of Sensorama and Roman IV. His releases stretch across acclaimed labels like Ladomat, Source, Cocoon, Turbo, R&S or Phonica, plus a number of full-lenghts on Hamburg’s Dial Records. Not to mention his unerring hand for remixes or his co-ran Klang Elektronik-Playhouse-Ongaku halidom. And also when DJing, Flügel deeply honours the music; giving each tune proper time to breathe, before aptly leading over to the next record. And with his ‚Sister Midnight‘ party series, started in early 2016, Roman spreads this skill- and colourful approach throughout clubs worldwide.

Lanark Artefax – 24/02/18

“It took the Scottish writer Alasdair Grey almost 30 years to complete his novel Lanark. Combining the real with the surreal, Grey’s dystopian opus paints a bizarre picture of a Glasgow-like city, conveying stark ideas of postmodernism and personal hells. “When a thing is perfect it is eternal,” reads one of its most striking lines. “It can be destroyed afterward, or slowly decay, but its perfection is safe in the past, which is the only inevitable part of the universe.” This reflects the worldview of Calum MacRae, a 23-year-old Glasgow-based English Literature graduate, who makes sublime electronic music under the name Lanark Artefax. His singular sound has piqued the interest of electronic music heavyweights like Aphex Twin and Björk, both of whom have played his tracks at festivals last summer.” – Read the whole editorial by Conor McTernan on Resident Advisor.
